Namik – Glacier of Forgotten Echoes

Your trekking adventure begins with an early morning pick-up at 6:30 AM near Kathgodam railway station. A shared Bolero will take you on a scenic drive via Bhimtal, Almora, and Bageshwar, covering approximately 180 km.

Enroute, enjoy the breathtaking views of the Kumaon hills, river valleys, and charming villages. By evening, you’ll arrive at Gogina, where the trek leader will welcome you.

You’ll check into a homestay or campsite for an overnight stay, followed by a hearty dinner. Later, the trek leader will conduct a briefing session to familiarize you with the challenges and expectations of the trek.

After a relaxed morning, the trek begins around 9 AM with a gradual ascent to Namik Village. This short trek of 4 km takes you through beautiful mountain trails with glimpses of local village life.

Upon reaching the campsite, enjoy a freshly cooked lunch and take the rest of the day to explore Namik Village. Known for its rich cultural heritage and serene landscapes, the village offers an authentic Himalayan experience.

The trek today takes you through dense forests, crossing wooden bridges and mountain streams. As you gain altitude, the terrain transitions from thick greenery to open landscapes.

After reaching Thala Bugyal, a vast alpine meadow, you will be greeted with spectacular views of the Kafni Glacier range and Nanda Kot Peak.

Spend the evening soaking in the natural beauty, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the campsite.

Begin your trek with a steep ascent to Chofu Top, passing via Thal Top, where you can witness a breathtaking sunrise. The journey continues with a gradual ascent towards Sudamkham along an alpine ridge, offering mesmerizing 360-degree views.

On one side, you’ll see the Panchachuli and Khaliya Bugyal, while on the other, the Kafni Glacier range and Nanda Kot Peak dominate the skyline. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance of this remote high-altitude setting before settling in for the night at Sudamkham.

The trek starts with a short yet steep ascent from Sudamkham to Kalu Vinayak. From here, the trail gradually winds through pristine alpine meadows, offering an untouched Himalayan experience. The views become even more spectacular as you approach Ghaduli, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

This day is reserved for exploring the region’s hidden gems. After breakfast, you will embark on a trek to Nag Kund, Nanda Kund, Heeramani, and the magnificent Namik Glacier.

A packed lunch will be carried along as you immerse yourself in the pristine beauty of these high-altitude lakes and glacial formations. The aim is to return to the campsite at Ghaduli by 4 PM, leaving enough time to relax before dinner.

Start early in the morning as the route today is mostly a descent, with a few sections requiring an uphill climb. A short break at Ranthan Top allows you to take in the panoramic views before continuing the descent to Chofu or Thal Top, where you’ll camp overnight.

Today’s trek follows either the same route or an alternate jungle trail, descending towards Namik Village. Arriving by late afternoon, you can relax, explore the surroundings, and interact with the villagers before enjoying a delicious dinner and resting for the night.

The final stretch of the trek takes you back to Gogina, where you’ll have time to visit the famous hanging bridge over the Ramganga River. This scenic spot is perfect for photography and soaking in the last moments of your trekking adventure. Overnight stay at Gogina.

After breakfast, you will begin your return journey to Kathgodam by road. The drive offers one last opportunity to admire the Himalayan landscapes before reaching Kathgodam by evening, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking experience.
